Gift Ideas for Him (or for that matter for Men)

February 10, 2010

So Christmas is coming, or is it your husbands birthday?

“Are you looking for the perfect gift for him?”

“Does your husband, or your man have everything he needs?.”

“Or is he the man that never wants anything?…”

As a man (and a husband), I can tell you the long lost secret for the perfect gift for him – that is for your husband, or your man.

We love tools. It can be tools for our garage, our office, or our kitchen (or BBQ).

There is no importance what so ever if we can use them or not. We love them. And the more of them we have, the better and more manly we feel.

As all women know, men are hunters. We do not actually explore and hunt food. Hell we don’t even like to go shopping for food. But it does mean that we need to discover things, conquer things and mostly use tools to make the discovering and conquering easier for us.

That is because we are lazy.

Men need their tools to go hunting, or some would say “conquering”. It is not important if we use the tools we have. We just have a more secure feeling if we know that they are there.

A good tool can be anything usable:

A car in the garage, even though your man lives across the street from work.Or a new axe, even if we will never cut down a tree because we live in the middle of town. Or how about a power drill? Even though the last time your husband used a drill was back in 1965.

The tool has no importance. What is important, is the knowledge we have the tool for the job if we ever need it.

Even though we probably never will.

Options matter with us men. We need to have the option to do stuff, even if we will never ever have any real intention of doing it.

However, if the gift you give him (that is your man, husband, boyfriend, mate, or even your father) is something he can actually use, it is that much better.

A good set of tools for the car, is great if our husband kisses his car goodnight every evening. A watch with heartbeat counter, if your husband jogs (not very usual though). How about a new cooler for the garage, with a couple of Buds? I know I hang there with my buddies sometimes.

For me the best tools I could get are for my kitchen.

I cook. I cook in the kitchen, and I love my BBQ.

My most important tools are my chef knives. I have 4 good ones, and I am always looking for the next great chef knife.

A great Chef Knife is the perfect tool for me, and I even get to use it for something I love to do.

The best chef knife I have is a Japanese chef knife, made by Hattori, from Japan. It cost me 750$, I did get slammed by my wife when I got it. But I’ve had it for 5 years now and it was totally worth it.

Last year, my lovely wife, got me an amazing new chef knife from Sakura, Japan. She didn’t tell me how much it cost her, but I guess it was just under 200$.

I love it. It is very, very good quality, and it is so much better then a tie or a sweater.

So when you are looking for the perfect gift for your man, husband, lover, mate or father, think about what he can “play” with.

And if you are looking for a great chefs knife, the Sakura 8″ Chef Knife is one of the best knives I came across. These days, I use it more then I use the Hattori chef knife.

A great gift for me. I love my wife
