What’s the difference between a saw and a serrated knife?

The brand that makes them? Their functions? Size? No difference? We have a large serrated knife in our kitchen that used for thick meats/tall breads and we have a small saw that’s used to cut thin branches off our tree! They look a lot alike! Is it all in the name?
